Day 1 - Frasier River Valley Scenes

We cruised north towards the Frasier River valley to start our travels. Well, I say cruise, but there was the slow down in Tacoma, and the slow down through downtown Seattle, and then the slow down through Everett, and the slow down through Marysville, followed by another slow down in Arlington… but then we cruised along.

The border crossing at Sumas was very quick and then we followed Canada 1 up through the Frasier River valley. I am always amazed at

how the terrain changes within a few hours of driving. The southern Frasier Valley travels through thick conifer forests. As you get glimpses of the river running far below, the forest changes to a dry pine forest.

Then you travel along a curving winding cliff that follows the river’s course through some rocky cliffs.

Next you realize you are in a dry sage brush desert.

Now we are camped at Willow Springs campground. It is nestled in the bottom of a small grassy valley with a small spring fed pond.

Heading further north tomorrow.
