Day Four – Beaver Creek Brewery

A tiny town on the far eastern edge of Montana is the home of a unique brewery with a history. The building itself was built in 1914 and was the Helvick’s grocery store attached to the Gem Theatre.

In 2007 a homebrewer, Sandy, thought it would make a great location for a micro-brewery. They have been brewing a variety of beers since then and boast of being the first micro-brewery in eastern Montana.

We talked to Cody who was friendly and informative. He shared the history of the brewery, described the many beers available, and showed us some of the many awards this brewery has received.

I agreed with the “People’s Choice” award for the Raspberry Cream, while Pat preferred the Paddlefish Stout. Beaver Creek has participated in many brew fests across Montana.

Their restaurant in the attached Gem Theatre has an old-time classy feel with glass chandeliers and velvet curtains. Now a days, the stage hosts modern bands, but the walls are adorned with photos from the past. Their chicken alfredo pizza was delicious.

What a quaint stop just off of I-94.

By the way, Beaver Creek Brewery is known for having the “best root beer”!
