Day Fifteen – Carey Brewery

Our goal to avoid large urban areas often leads us to find unexpected little locations. One such place was the Carey Brewery in the little town of Carey. (I know original name huh?) It was one of our Harvest Host stays that conveniently fit into our route.

The owner came out to greet us even before we had recorded our daily mileage. He was very accommodating and helpful. He made sure we had what we needed for the night, including asking if we needed an extension cord to plug in.

Located in the center of the small village, this brewery seems to be one of the hangouts for the locals. Some would stop by for a beer, of which they had a number of tasty choices. Other locals would swing in for a game of chess or to chat with neighbors. Out back of the brewery was a small community park that hosted some volleyball games and intense cornhole tournaments. Of course, after intense games the participants would come in to quench their thirst.

The sun set which seemed to signal it was time for people to head home. The pastel colored street became quiet, except for the bats that swirled around the church steeple.

What a pleasant evening reading under the party lights of the Carey Brewery patio.
